Case A

Case A was born in 1972 – he was discharged from the maternity hospital as a normal healthy baby. He was developing normally and reaching all his milestones for the first seven months of his life. He was vaccinated with the Trivax DPT 3 in 1 in a clinic in a town in the east when he was 7 months old.  He began taking epileptic seizures and was admitted to a Dublin Hospital for 3 weeks. He was on medication for epilepsy since that time. He never walked talked and was unable to sit up and was unable to hold anything in his hands. He was cared for at home by his mother and family members.  He died at 29 years of age.

 

Case B

Case B was born in 1970 – he was vaccinated with the DPT + Oral Polio vaccine at a clinic in Dublin 3 – his eyes started rolling in his head – the reaction was reported to his GP – he was referred to a consultant in Crumlin Hospital – he suffers from epilepsy ever since – he is diagnosed as severe mental handicap and is in residential care since he was 15 years old.

 

Case C

Case C was born in 1976 and discharged from the maternity hospital as a normal healthy baby. She was vaccinated with the Trivax 3 in 1 vaccine by a GP in the North/East when she was 8 months old. She reacted with a high temperature and her eyes rolling in her head.  She suffered from epilepsy since that time and developed scoliosis. She was referred to a consultant in Crumlin Hospital and was diagnosed as severe mental handicap. She went before the ‘Expert Medical Group’ in 1983 but her claim was declined. She died at 29 years of age.

 

Case D

Case D was born in 1957 at a maternity hospital in Southern Ireland and discharged as a normal healthy baby. He was developing normally and reaching all his milestones until he was vaccinated with DPT vaccine.  He was vaccinated at a clinic at 4 months old.  He began taking his first epileptic fit six hours after receiving the vaccination and continued taking them until the day he died in 1970.

 

Case E

Case E was born in 1975 and was vaccinated at 9 months old in the midlands. Her reaction to the vaccine took place 2 to 3 minutes after receiving the vaccination – her eyes were rolling in her head –immediately the GP who administered the vaccine was shown and the Doctor advised that it was only a temporary reaction. Case E was referred to a consultant in Portiuncula Hospital Galway and to a consultant in Crumlin Hospital. Case E is 34 years of age and suffers from epilepsy  - is unable to talk and has the mental capacity of a 2 year old child.

 

Case F

Case F was born in 1985 in the Coombe Maternity Hospital and was discharged by the pediatrician as a perfect healthy baby boy.  He was vaccinated at 3½ months in a clinic in North Dublin. His reaction took place within a matter of hours following the administration of the DPT vaccine – he had convulsions – vomiting – sweating and bouts of screaming. Case F is diagnosed with profound mental and physical handicap and is cared for at home by his parents.

 

Case G

Case G was born in 1974 in the South East.   She was vaccinated at the local dispensary by a nurse and suffered a high temperature and convulsions within hours of receiving the 3 in 1 vaccine. She was hospitalized in Crumlin Hospital and diagnosed as severely brain damaged. Case G was offered the ex gratia payment of £10,000 by the ‘Expert Group’ and is now in residential care.

 

Case H

Case H was born in 1968 in the South East. He was vaccinated with the 3 in 1 vaccine at a local clinic by a nurse and within hours of receiving the vaccine he reacted with his eyes rolling in his head and twitching. He was referred to a consultant in Crumlin hospital and remained there for some considerable time. He is diagnosed as suffering from severe mental handicap with severe epilepsy.

 

Case J

Case J was born in 1972 in Dublin. He was vaccinated with the 3 in1 vaccine by a doctor at a clinic in Dublin 5. He reacted immediately with high pitched screaming and shortly afterwards had spasms with his eyes rolling and sudden upward movements of right arm and leg. He was referred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital and the parents were asked by the doctor in Temple Street if he had the 3 in1 vaccine. He is mentally retarded and suffers from epilepsy.  Case J was offered the ex gratia payment of £10,000 from the ‘Expert Group’.

 

Case K

Case K was born in Dublin in 1971. She was vaccinated with the 3 in 1 vaccine at a clinic in West Dublin. The child was normal up to the time of immunisation. At a year old she was admitted to Our Ladys Hospital Crumlin for tests by a consultant there. Case K was examined by the Expert Group in 1978 – her application was declined. To-day she is in residential care and suffers from severe mental and physical handicap - scoliosis - epilepsy and requires 24 hour care.  

 

Case L

Case L was born in a Galway maternity hospital in 1988. She was vaccinated with the 3 in 1 vaccine by a GP in the midlands when she was 5½ months old. 36 hours later she reacted with high temperature and convulsions – she was admitted to hospital immediately that morning – the consultant said that she would be severely brain damaged – Case L died later that evening in hospital –  the parents were advised not to vaccinate their other children with the 3 in 1 vaccine.
